Let get down to sharing my itinerary and note to myself for future holiday with young children.
Travel date: 8 - 17 Jun 2022 (Winter Season with light Shower)
Place of interest: Phillip Island, Lake Mountain, Puffing Billy train, healesville sanctuary, Werribee Open Range, Melbourne City
We took a red eyes flight 10pm(SGT) departed and arrived in Melbourne at 7am(AUT). It didn't help when the adults didn't sleep well as expected after not travelling for a long time. The curious traveller managed to sleep till the plane land while the bubbly traveller didn't catch a wink!
There isn't a long wait at luggage collection even though the airport made an announcement to apologize for the slight delay in baggage collection.
Cleared the immigration with breeze and collected our rental car.
Upon reading many bad reviews, we were quite skeptical till we collected our car and did thorough checks. Well the car condition is good and clean except for some coco-krunch in the child car seat. Bleh.
We rented a Mitsubishi Outlander (4WD) with 2 car seats, a GPS.
The GPS is kind of laggy but still trustworthy with our mobile google map as backup. Our ride around Aust is pretty smooth and safe(with our safety Papa driver).
Papa first drive - Melbourne Airport to Phillip Island (est 200km)
Welcoming Rainbow!
We made a pitstop before we headed on to SAM RAMO fisherman CO-OP. It was a smooth ride to Phillip Island!
Upon checking in, we set off for our 1st itinerary - Penguin Parade! Happy that we bought the Plus seat and all the while braving the strong breeze and light shower from 4pm till 6pm. Well, not to disturb the penguin, we didn't take out our mobile to take any photo!
It was surreal when you spotted the first group of tiny penguins waddling up the shore and wondered how they know where their burrow is with over 1000 of penguins and burrows around. Despite the rain and so little rest, the children enjoy their 1st up close experience with the tiny penguins. We waddled back with the rest of the tiny penguins...
Our 2nd day started late, we settled quick brunch at apartment with cereals, milk, eggs and tea.
The weather was great! Our 1st stop is Koala Conservation Centre, Churchill Island and lastly Antarctic Journey(bought 4 passes for family)
Another first experience for the children was seeing a real koala for the first time! They enjoyed the walk at the conservation centre.
It was light shower when we heading toward Churchill Island. There is only 1 farm on that island and is easy to explore!
Another first experience for them was cow milking and seeing how smart a sheepdog herd the sheep.
Curious traveller is always curious and raring to give everything a try! He did his first cow milking with ease and smiled broadly!
while the bubbly traveller is cautious and need abit of encouragement. Nevertheless, they smiled and unlocked their first cow milking experience.
We were contemplated whether to give Antarctic Journey a miss with only 45min left(15min drive from Churchill). Glad we did it and covered the Antarctic in 30min because the broadwalk and the sunset is mesmerizing! Our bubbly and curious travellers did not failed to amaze us! They seldom requested us to take photo.
To be continue...
To Note:
Even though most of the countries has opened up their border, with different health advisory across the regions, instead of booked air ticket and pack your luggage, you read up alot on the region health advisory up till your flight date to make sure you have a smooth and memorable holiday. One of the document you need to prepare is proof of vaccination, which does make it easy if you print or save a soft copy in your mobile.
