Well let me introduce the 3 friends who agree to go through this unforgettable journey with me. They are dd, wj & mm. At least 2months before the trip, we had did some trainings like - jogging, basketball, badminton, trekking Bukit Timah hill(180m), trekked around Macritchie with at least 8kg of weight in our backpack for hours, walked up the 13th floor with weight in backpack.
We made a booking with x-trekker for accommodation in MT KK & transfers from airport. Air tickets was booked separately via Airasia which is cheaper compare to the other only airline-Silkair to Sabah.
We were picked up by Jimmy, our caretaker in Sabah. It is a 2 hours ride from airport to Mount KK base camp. We had a sumptuous buffet dinner at the base camp - Balsam Restaurant before we did the trek the next morning as early as 730am.
We set off at 8am at Timpohon Gate after our breakfast and collected our packed lunch - 2 hard boiled egg, an apple, 2 bananas, 4 slices of sandwiches & a bottle of water packed in a recycled bag.
We arrived at 430pm at Laban Rata at 3,272 meters but we were allocated a bunk at Warus Hut at least 10min away from Laban Rata which has dorm, cookhouse and a store which sell stuff at ridiculous price, eg a very normal poncho at RM10, guess the price for the rest of the items is also jack up to x10.
I really hope there is an ESCALATOR installed so I don't need to take the rocky route up to Laban Rata just for meal and come down again. Our legs were aching and we were drenched.
Our Warus hut has another Korean mother-daughter who took the longer route via Mersilau and decided to cooked korean cup noodle in the kitchen and at the same time to keep themselves warm with the only stove. I guess is a good idea!
It started raining from noon till late night and we didn't bathe cos it was freaking cold and there is no heater in the room. We did the powder bath in the room after our quick dinner.
Light off at 8pm and gosh... whenever we need to pee, we will need to put on our raincoat and ran out to the toilet hut situated away from the hut we staying. At least there was water to flush as compared to those sleeping in Laban Rata Guesthouse there wasn't enough electricity and water for that day.
We set off at 2am to Laban Rata guesthouse for our supper before setting off to Low's Peak. mm and wj were rather fast they reached the Peak an hour faster! and feedback no SUNRISE!
WE MADE IT TO LOW'S PEAK!!!! without any nice scenary pic taken....
